Messipi Threads

A quilt project inspired by Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild member Sara Detweiler which includes 52 quilts created by area quilters.  Each piece has a common material representing the Mississippi River. Quilters used this to create a small artistic quilt representing what the river means to them. When joined together the river “flows” from piece to piece.  Messipi is the French Indian name for Great River. The music, “Carry Them River,” was provided by David G. Smith.

This version of the movie has the artists’ descriptions of each quilt along with a short explanation of the quilting techniques used.

Pictures I took for the video of the Messipi Threads, Mississippi River Quilt Project done by members of the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild.
